How to ACTUALLY Track Progress (Doing this wrong)

Are you frustrated that no matter what you do you can't seem to make the scale change? Have you been dieting an working hard in the gym, but not getting the results you want?
See the thing is, you need to be looking at more than just the scale when it comes to tracking your progress.
The are a few different ways to track progress that you should be doing if you get long term results.
The first way is tracking your weight, the obvious one. I track my weight whether I am bulking or cutting. I weigh myself first thing in the morning after waking up and using the bathroom, this will give you your most accurate weigh in of the day. At the end of the week you will have 7 days of weigh in data that you avg. together and compare to future and past weeks to track progress.
The second method I use is taking progress photos. I like to take photos every 2-4 weeks, which gives enough time to see some visible changes in the mirror. This allows you to see how you're actually looking, which is more important than just the number on the scale.
Next you want to take measurements of the relevant areas you want to track every 2-4 weeks. Get a good cloth tape measure and measure body parts like your biceps, thighs, waist, hips, etc. Sometimes when dropping body fat you may be losing inches while the scale weight isn't changing that much.
The last factor you want to track is your energy and how you're feeling. Is is important to get plenty of sleep, recovery, and quality nutrition to fuel your training. If you notice that you are feeling lethargic and getting sick often, it may be time to change up one of these factors.
Remember that you want to be keeping in mind the big picture when tracking your progress and not to get into your own head too much.
